Literary Translation Residency in Dublin - Dutch or Flemish Language (Autumn 2026)

Literature Ireland and the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation seek applications for a Literary Translator in Residence. This is an opportunity for a translator working from Irish or English into Dutch or Flemish to spend the months of October and November 2026 immersing themselves in Dublin’s rich literary and cultural life.

Candidates must be currently working on the translation of a work by a contemporary Irish writer and should ideally have a contract with a publisher. Translators of literary fiction, literary non-fiction, poetry and drama are all welcome to apply. 

The residency will be for two months, 1 October - 30 November 2026. Literature Ireland will cover travel, accommodation and living expenses. Accommodation will be provided on campus in Trinity College Dublin.

The successful candidate will be asked to work on their translation-in-progress, to immerse themselves in Dublin’s cultural life, to contribute to activities in the MPhil in Literary Translation at Trinity, and to hold one public event near the end of their stay.
