2020 Literary Translator in Residence – Call for Applications
Literature Ireland and the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation, Trinity College Dublin, seek applications from German-language literary translators for a residential bursary in Dublin.
In 2020, we hope to award two bursaries of eight weeks’ duration. Each bursary will be awarded to a practising literary translator who is working on the translation of a work of contemporary Irish literature. These bursaries will be awarded to one or two translators working into the German language.

The successful applicants will be asked to work closely with students on the MPhil in Literary Translation, to assist in the organisation of public workshops/talks, and to hold one event near the end of their stay, focusing on their translation work.
The first eight-week bursary will run from mid-January to mid-March, and the second will be from April to May 2020. Applicants must provide proof that they hold a publishing contract for the translation of a work of contemporary Irish literature into German. Applications should include an outline project proposal, current curriculum vitae and two references (including one from a publishing house located in a German-speaking country.
