Translator Clara Ministral first read Rónán Hession's novel, Leonard and Hungry Paul in 2020.Thanks to her championing of the book, it was published in Spanish in 2025 as Leonard y Hungry Paul by Alpha Decay.
In a public conversation, led by Sinéad Mac Aodha, Rónán and Clara will discuss contemporary attitudes to translation, author and translator collaboration, and the enthusiastic response of the Spanish readership to Leonard and Hungry Paul.

Clara Ministral
Clara Ministral studied Translation and Comparative Literature and has been translating fiction and non-fiction from English to Spanish for over fifteen years. She has translated works by Jan Carson, Louise Kennedy, Rónán Hession, Colin Bateman, Rebecca Solnit and John Haines, among others.
Rónán Hession
Rónán Hession is an Irish writer and musician. He has published three novels: Leonard and Hungry Paul, Panenka and Ghost Mountain. His novels have been shortlisted for awards including the Irish and British Book Awards and have been translated into ten languages.
