Welcome Fuat Sevimay

Literature Ireland and the Centre for Literary Translation are delighted to welcome the Turkish literary translator, Fuat Sevimay, as our 2015 Translator in Residence. Fuat will visit Ireland for two periods of two months, in the spring and the autumn, to complete his translation of Finnegans Wake and to start translating a selection of contemporary Irish short stories.

His previous translations include James Joyce's A Portait of the Artist as a Young Man and Occasional, Critical and Political Writing, Oscar Wilde's The Soul of Man under Socialism as well as several translations from Italian (Italo Svevo and Luigi Pirandello).

During his residency, Fuat will work with students from the MPhil in Literary Translation in Trinity College Dublin, meet with Joycean specialists and immerse himself in Irish cultural life.

We wish him every success with his Turkish translation of Finnegans Wake!
