As part of Ireland's hosting the Council of the European Union between January and June 2013, Literature Ireland has donated over four hundred first editions of Irish literature in translation from our archive in Dublin to a special showcase in the Justus Lipsius Building in Brussels.

The books donated by Literature Ireland are all first editions of Sebastian BarryJohn BanvilleSamuel BeckettDermot BolgerJohn BoyneAnne EnrightHugo HamiltonSeamus HeaneyJames JoyceClaire KeeganCeline KiernanClaire KilroyDerek MahonPaul MurraySiobhán ParkinsonColm TóibínWB Yeats and many more of Ireland's great novelists, playwrights, poets and children's writers translated, with the support of Literature Ireland into the languages of the European Union

The Crafts Council of Ireland, supported by Culture Ireland, is presenting the showcase of the best of Ireland's craft and design in the Foyer and Floor 50 of Justus Lipsius Building, which has been the home of the Council of the European Union since 1995.

The installations, which were curated by Jonathan Legge, consist of floor and wall coverings, tables and chairs, sofas and lighting and many crafted objects in ceramics, glass and wood, arranged for use. The pieces have been designed and made by more than 30 craftspeople registered with the Crafts Council of Ireland.

And in the Foyer Space, tall shelving, filled with Irish literature and craft, creates a quiet space where visitors are encouraged to select a book to read. Literature Ireland along with several other key cultural institutions in Ireland (including the Royal Dublin Society, the National Museum of Ireland, the Chester Beatty Library and the Crawford Art Gallery) donated the rich library of Irish literature that is on display.
