Notes for Expert Readers
Literature Ireland has launched an online translation grant application system, which has been designed to allow international publishers to apply for translation grants online. Previously, these applications were posted in hard copy, so the new system is intended to be considerably more convenient for both publishers and staff.
The system also has a section for use by expert readers. This means that, once a reader has been assigned a report, the source and target texts will be automatically emailed to that reader together with the deadline for report and the guidelines for writing this report. Readers will also upload the report and bank details form to the system. We have asked that readers now also provide a short summary of the findings of the report, which will be forwarded to our board of directors with the application details.

Payment
How you will be paid by Literature Ireland may depend on whether or not your bank account is in a country within the SEPA zone.
SEPA - the Single Euro Payments Area - is a European-driven regulation that has created a fast, safe and efficient borderless payment area for its 36 or so member countries. It encompasses all 27 EU member states as well as the UK, Iceland, Switzerland, Norway and a number of other territories. To check whether your bank account is held in a SEPA-zone country, please consult this list.
Readers with accounts in a SEPA-zone country should submit this bank details form when returning their reports.
If your bank account is held in a country outside the SEPA zone, your bank may charge you a fee to receive a payment from Literature Ireland into your bank account. It is currently not possible for us to choose to pay this fee on your behalf. Anecdotal feedback suggests this bank fee could amount to anything between €5 and €40 depending on the country and bank. Such fees can be avoided by having your reader's fee paid by PayPal or Western Union. If you can only receive the payment into your bank account, then Literature Ireland will arrange to reimburse you for the bank deductions at the end of each year.
Further information is contained in our payment details form, which also allows you to indicate your preferred method of payment.
