(1942 - 04/01/2004)
Dorothy Molloy was born in Ballina, Co. Mayo, and grew up in Co. Dublin. She studied languages at University College Dublin, before going to Barcelona where she worked as a historical researcher and painter. Molloy's first collection of poetry, Hare Suoup (2004), was published posthumously and to great acclaim. Gethsemane Day appeared in 2006 and brings together her last and hitherto unpublished poems, which celebrate survival with all the anarchic zest, mordancy and lyric drive of Hare Soup, while confronting individual illness and death with moving lucidity. Dorothy Molloy died in Dublin in January 2004.
