Big Girl, Small Town is a darkly humorous book set in small-town northern Ireland, and we see the world through main character Majella’s eyes. It was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel award and the Comedy Women in Print prize, as well as an Irish Book Award and the Kate O’Brien prize. Michelle Gallen grew up in County Tyrone, northern Ireland, and she has had work published journals in the US, UK and Ireland.
Clara Ministral has been translating fiction and non-fiction from English to Spanish for just over a decade, including her recent translation of The Fire Starters by Jan Carson. Clara taught on the inaugural Literature Ireland Summer Translation Workshop in June, 2021.
