The Maid's Tale

Kathleen Ferguson

Set in a Catholic community in Derry, Northern Ireland, this novel spans three decades from the '50s to the late 1980s. It is the story of Brigid Keen who, loyally and humbly, has been Father Mann's maid for 33 years. When the priest is conferred to a nursing home, she loses her job and for the first time she has to confront life outside the structures provided by the Catholic Church on her own.
