The Ikon Maker

Desmond Hogan

Ireland, at the beginning of the 1970s. Susan O'Hallrahan, from her little sweet shop in Ballinasloe, in County Galway, experiences the great events of the world as nothing more than a distant murmur. Since the death of her husband, she lives alone, cradled in memories, and she waits. She waits with an excitement mixed with apprehension, for the return of her son, Diarmaid, a strange boy, solitary and bad-tempered, who has gone to London in search of adventure. Susan's life changes when, driven by a morbid premonition, she decided to stop waiting, and go in search of her son.
