My Oedipus Complex, and Other Stories

Frank O'Connor

In the title story, five-year-old Larry tries to jealously guard his place in his mother's life when the father he had barely known comes home from the First World War. His dismay only subsides when Sonny, his baby brother, is born, demanding all of his mother's attention. Suddenly, Larry realies that he and his father are in the same position.
