Disco Pigs & Sucking Dublin: Two Plays

Enda Walsh

First staged in 1996 with Cillian Murphy in the lead role, Disco Pigs is the story of two friends who set out to celebrate their seventeenth birthday in the nightclubs of Cork, a city lost in dance and pounding rave rhythms. Pig and Runt are two inseparable violent creatures, who have developed their own language from birth. This night they are about to separate and which one will survive will depend on which one can break free. Sucking Dublin followed one year later and is a fierce and uncompromising account of five young people tormented by a rape in a claustrophobic, drug-infested Dublin.
