Jamie O'Neill

Jamie O'Neill was born in Dun Laoghaire and moved to England in his early twenties. His début novel, Disturbance, was published in 1989 and was followed by Kilbrack (1990). Working as a night porter in Cassels Hospital in London during the 1990s, O'Neill spent nearly a decade perfecting his third work, At Swim, Two Boys (2001). This critically acclaimed novel garnered comparisons to the works of Joyce, Beckett and Flann O'Brien and was awarded the Ferro-Grumley Award for Fiction and the Lambda Literary Award in Gay Men's Fiction.
