This collection gathers together some of Michael D. Higgins's best writing over the years, and includes poetry from three acclaimed earlier collections: The Betrayal (1990), The Season of Fire (1993) and An Arid Season (2004). It includes the well-known works 'The Betrayal' and 'Brothers', as well as many poems which may be new to some readers.
The poems are presented as parallel texts, with the English-language originals alongside new Italian translations, with an afterword by Giulio Giorello.
