A Time for Voices: Selected Poems 1960-1990

Brendan Kennelly

In his preface to these selected poems, Kennelly draws attention to the crucial process of inventing his literary persona: having learned in his youth to perform at the Gaelic arts festival Feis, he later adopted the style of the story-teller as a poet. The Hungarian writer and translator Thomas Kabdebo has seized on this particular quality in this collection, making Kennelly's poetry available to a new audience in his native Hungary.
