Vona Groarke

Vona Groarke was born in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford, and is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. Her poetry collections include Shale (1994), Other People's Houses (1999), Flight (2002), shortlisted for the 2002 British Forward Prize and winner of the 2003 Michael Hartnett Award, and Juniper Street (2005). Other poetry prizes include the Hennessy Award, the Brendan Behan Memorial Prize, the Strokestown International Poetry Award, the Stand Magazine Poetry Prize, and runner-up in the Times Literary Supplement Poetry Competition (2003). Groarke currently teaches Creative Writing at the University of Manchester. Her latest volume of poetry, Lament for Art O'Leary, was published in 2008.
