Louis de Paor

Louis de Paor was born in Cork and earned a doctorate in Modern Irish Literature at the National University, Cork. His collections of poetry include Próca solais is luatha (1988), 30 dán (1990), and Agus rud eile de (2002). With Seán Ó Tuama, he edited a selection of the best Irish language poetry of the twentieth century, Coiscéim na haoise seo (1991), and he produced an edition of Michael Davitt's poems with translations into English by various English language poets, Freacnairc mhearcair: rogha dánta / The oomph of quicksilver: selected poems (2002). De Paor has received various scholarships from the Austalian Council, several Oireachtas prizes, and the prestigious Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award. Louis de Paor is the director of the Centre for Irish Studies at the National University, Galway.
