Grace Wells

1968 -

Grace Wells was born in London in 1968 and moved to Ireland in 1991. Formerly an independent television producer, she now reviews Irish poetry for literary journals like The Stinging Fly, Contrary and Poetry Ireland Review, works as a freelance arts administrator, and teaches creative writing. Her first book, Gyrfalcon (2002), was a novel for children which won the Eilis Dillon Best Newcomer Bisto Award. Other publications for children include Ice Dreams (2008) and One World, Our World (2009). Her debut poetry collection, When God Has Been Called Away to Greater Things, was published by Dedalus Press in 2010. It won the 2011 Rupert and Eithne Strong Best First Collection Award and was short-listed for the London Fringe Festival New Poetry Award.
