Literature Ireland

Christine Hamill

1962 -

When Christine was eight years old and off sick from school, she read a book about an author and immediately thought – I want to do that. Several decades later she finally got around to doing it!

She studied English Literature at university and fancied herself as a poet for a while before getting a day job. She worked in the arts then trained as a teacher and worked in Spain, England and Northern Ireland. She lives in Belfast with her teenage son (who sometimes finds her quite annoying).

Christine writes books for both adults and children. B is for Breast Cancer is a non fiction work for adults based on her own experiences.

She won the 2017 9-13 Laugh Out Loud Award for her first children’s novel, The Best Medicine.
